I'm a long time lurker and am posting here for the first time...I'm posting this in hopes I look on this to call out future me's hypocrisy and not lose hope/determination.
I (22F now, 20F then) in Summer 2016 hit my heaviest weight: 168lbs. I hated everything about my appearance and existence and I got dumped from an over year long relationship which killed me mentally and emotionally at the time. Somehow, went back to college, worked out 3x a week and got rid of carbs in my diet and I magically lost 40 lbs in 8 months. It was amazing.
Fast forward a year later.. Spring 2018 I was at my goal weight (120lbs) but noticed it was steadily increasing until I got back to 164 lbs.. so since Summer '18 I got my act together and tried to lose weight again. As months went on, dresses started not zipping, jeans starting cutting circulation and I felt miserable even though I'm in a healthy happy relationship now. When Fall '18 hit, my calves couldn't fit into my boots so I panicked and even hired a PT for 3+ months.
I didn't lose a single pound that time. I did lose 2% body fat, but nothing on the scale changed. If anything, now I couldn't fit into sleeves of certain shirts as well which didn't help with my happiness and sanity.
So once 2019 came around, I attempted P90X and after a couple injuries and frustrating misfortune, I decided to focus on only cardio and CICO, maintaining a 1200 calorie, low-carb high protein diet, wearing an apple watch when I run, and avoiding fruit juice (my kryptonite). This past weekend, even though I haven't lost weight NEARLY as fast as I'd like to, especially considering I've been down this path before, I finally fit into one of my favorite long sleeved shirts! :) Even though the scale tethers from 154-157...So I suppose to anyone reading this, don't lose hope! Everyone runs their own race so don't worry about the guy that succeeded to lose over 100 lbs during the time you've been trying to lose half that amount. Give that guy kudos for working their tail off and try to use that positive energy into your own battles. Best of luck to everyone on here losing weight! You're doing amazing and I'm proud of all of you even though we've never met. Have an amazing day.
If you have advice for anything you think I'm doing wrong, go for it. I'm all ears.
