Short version: I’m on a five day crash diet. On only the second day, I’m very tired, with headaches and dizziness. I don’t feel safe to drive. The diet is the Slim Fast Diabetic version, I’m sticking to the guidelines pretty well. (I’m not diabetic, but I wanted an option with less sugar.)
Long version; I’ve gained quite a bit of weight from being sick for a few years. I’ve been cleared by my doctor for my illnesses, but now obesity is an issue. I’m 5’8” and 262 pounds, but I carry my weight rather well, so I didn’t realize it was such a serious issue until I got a second opinion from another doctor. He told me my frame is extremely small, and that puts additional pressure on my body and could explain why I’m having so much difficulty. He also told me I should be safe cutting my calories more, since my metabolism ‘seems to run slow.’
This made sense to me, as I’ve been having difficulty exercising. I used to be rather physically active, and I enjoyed working out a lot. Lately I ache much quicker and fatigue from way less, to the point where I’m unable to burn enough calories.
So, I decided to go on a temporary restrictive diet of 1200-1500 calories a day, to try to get some weight off my bones. I’m hoping that maybe this will make exercise more doable, as
Right now I don’t feel hungry at all, but I do feel dizzy, cold, and unable to function. I haven’t done a restrictive diet since I first started having problems with health, and can’t remember if this level of fatigue and symptoms are normal.
Any advice would really help! After being sick so long, I really want to reclaim my life and my fitness, but long term illness has made it hard to know what’s ‘normal.’
