I don't have a lot to lose, but boy is it stubborn.

Hi all. I am looking for some feedback or similar stories. Here's where I'm at:

I am 5'6" (F) 176.5 lbs and will turn 27 this summer. I have a desk job with a standing desk option (it moves up and down). Healthy weight for my body composition should be between 160-165. I was thin in high school at around 140, but have no desire to have abs again if it means I can't have beer or pizza. I would even be happy seeing 168, which is less than 10 lbs! But it just won't come off. This is some stubborn shit.

I have a lot of muscle and enjoy weight lifting at the gym. I have an athletic build, junk in the trunk, and thicker thighs. I have little to no issue with the way my body looks, so this motivation is strictly health speaking. And also because, for lack of better words, the number on the scale is fucking with me.

I've been tracking with MFP for weeks. I have it set to the lowest deficit for -0.5 lbs per week, eating around 1650 calories a day. I feel this would be the most sustainable to perpetuate in the long run. I have tracked and tracked, felt the hunger, and said no to food, alcohol, snacks, etc. if it did not fit into my calorie budget. I haven't deprived myself if it fits in. I want this to be a lifestyle change, not a lose 10 lbs and then gain it all back over the next 3 months of mindless eating.

Why does my body want to hold onto the weight so badly? I have literally never lost 10 lbs, and I feel lost, to say the least. I hesitate posting this, because so many of you have had such arduous journeys, and my struggles feel minuscule in comparison. I know I shouldn't be number hunting. Part of me regrets weighing myself in the first place, but I am determined to get my weight under control. So r/loseit, what have you got?
