2 week update

Hi everyone, just wanted to throw this out there for accountability. Two weeks ago I made this post:

To summarize, here were my goals:

Routines I want to have down:

  1. Intermittent fasting: eating between 8:30 - 6:30 for a 14 hour fast

Review: I have to admit I can take this more seriously. If I want a healthy snack after 6:30 I usually wouldn't stop myself because it's easy to rationalize but I think this is stopping me from being able to measure results. Also, if I miss my morning workout, I have to make up for the gym session at night and have a protein shake around 8-9.

Targeted subgoal: make every effort to get that morning workout in.

  1. Working out in the morning: doing 6am workouts

Review: I had a romanticized view of going to the gym early and having the place be relatively quiet, but at 7am the gym is packed and if I see people I know it makes me a bit anxious so I bought a hat and oversized workout hoodie so I can have some privacy when I work out. My first week was decent but second week really dropped off.

Targeted subgoal: accept that the gym is not 100% serenity all the time, there will be weird eye contact and unwanted interactions on rare occasions - let it motivate you and don't be easily deterred!!

  1. In bed by 9:30 and wake up by 5:30: and Sleeping around 9-9:30

Review: my first week was great by second week I lost sight of the goal a little. However, I had morning workouts every day for my first week and I am very proud of myself! On my second day I had a huge bout of the fear-of-failures and became demotivated but I kept telling myself it was just a bad mental health moment and exercising will improve my mental health. It worked :)

Targeted subgoal: this month I want to wake up at 4:30 so I can get to the gym by 5am when it's actually quiet (7am is very busy). Getting up is a lot easier when I go to bed on time. Going to bed on time is a lot easier when I am very productive at work and don't have to stress or take work home. When you have a bad day or when you lose confidence just acknowledge the anxiety and the bad mental health day and let exercise help you push through and focus.

  1. Make fitness part of my lifestyle: join more social activities and communities that revolve around fitness

Review: this hasn't been very realistic and to be honest I find joining a run club randomly a bit intimidating... but I got the courage to post an update on reddit
