Tl;dr: if you have reached maintenance, and gained back a few pounds, did you have difficulty going back into the "losing" mindset? Any tips for me?
I've had a long journey with my weight and my relationship to my body.
I'm currently 5'3" and 138 lbs, with my high weight being 190 lbs in college, and I was overweight as a child. I've had a few ups and downs with weight and this time I'm really trying to properly do maintenance, as in, adopt new habits and a new lifestyle in order to maintain what I've accomplished!!
I hit my goal weight of 130 lbs last April! Almost 30 lbs down! I stayed around 131-132 for about 2 weeks, and maintained an average of 133 for a couple months... Then maintained around 135... Now around 138... And I can no longer deny that I'm slowly gaining back.
I'm just having a really hard time getting back into the "losing" mindset. It's great that I've been maintaining around 138 for 4 months now, but I'd really like to get back under 135. That's less than 5 pounds away, and yet I am really struggling to get back into the mindset of losing. I'm hungry again and my emotional eating habits picked back up so I'm trying to deal with those again too (I'm in therapy to help with this aspect). I'm working out more than ever which means that 1200 cals is no longer cutting it, but I'm having trouble finding my new losing range (and sticking to it long enough to see if I will lose while eating 1400-1600 each day!!)
So, maintainers, or those who have taken breaks from losing and then get back on track, what helped you start losing again? Did you find a new reward system, or new cooking routines, a vision board, a picture of you at your lowest that you hang up on your mirror? Any ideas are appreciated!!
