I found out I was pregnant on 4/20 last year. I lost a lot of weight in the beginning because I had no appetite and struggled to gain weight to support the baby. I started drinking whole milk and eating high calorie foods out of desperation. I ended up gaining a lot of weight at the end and getting angry purple/red stretch marks :( it’s been 3.5 months since I’ve given birth and I am officially back to my pre baby weight.
In the beginning I was able to lose 15 pounds from breastfeeding but I had to stop and I gained some of that back. I tried to find time to go to the gym but I’m so weak I can’t even squat the weight that I used to warm up with. My baby is super heavy and I guess rocking him to sleep and holding him all day burned off a lot of calories bc I am back to my original weight. I also only eat 2.5 meals a day and start my bedtime at 7pm so I don’t get hungry.
Even though my weight is the same, I still have work to do. My shape is not the same since my skin has not completely shrunk back but I’m happy with my progress. My goal isn’t weight anymore but I want to be able to squat 185 as easily as I used to. I realized that physical strength and energy contribute a lot to my self esteem. I feel powerful for being able to grow a life and take care of it but I need to be physically strong to have energy to take care of an increasingly heavy baby.
