Calorie counting eye opener

First I'll start off with yes I know counting calories is one of the most basic things on losing weight and really shouldn't be a big of an issue as it is. Sadly it's one of those things I've openly mocked for years. It's always been a why should I spend 20 minutes counting when I can pick items that are obviously good for you and then I can enjoy a small treat later. I recently joined a 12 week challenge where I'm basically doing the biggest loser at my gym and decided to give it a whirl as I want to win. Good God what have I been doing to myself all these years. No wonder I ballooned to 220lbs eating such calorie heavy things as I have. A Tim hortons French vanilla medium is the equivalent of an entire healthy meal. The steaks I enjoy eating? Better plan my day around that as it hits like a calorie train. Other thing that bothers me is apps like my fitness pal has about 30 options for the same meal all with different calorie and nutrition amounts. If I want to get accurate counts I'm hunting down nutrition guides online from government sources or directly from the restaurant chain and inputting it myself. One nice thing is I found a government site that lets me make a nutrition guide for my home made meals based on what I put in and how much, it's really helped. Anyways I'm going to keep doing this calorie counting thing as I've already started to see results and it's only been a week. 4lbs down and a bunch more to go. Got to win, got to win lol
