[Tip] post- things that have worked great for me

35F, CW225pounds. GW175pounds. Week 1 so no milestones to share yet but some tips I think could help other people as they've worked great for me in my first week. I've followed CICO targeting 1450 calories per day and set a goal to do a minimum 15 min workout per day (needed achievable goals or I'd know I'd have gotten frustrated as I failed and given up altogether).

  1. Breakfast. On Sunday night I made a big batch of a veggie frittata and have been reheating it at work. It came out way lower calories than I'd expect for how filling it is (I measured all the ingredients) with my new foodscale and calculated on my fitness pal)

  2. Lunch- I always buy work lunch in the city and struggle to choose healthy options (and hate bringing food from home). There is a lunch membership ap in my city (mealpal, other cities may have similar) which has been great because you choose your lunch the day before. I have made sure to filter by healthy and choose when I'm not hungry. This last week I've had a variety of salad and protein dishes when I'd normally eat fried food then I don't take my wallet when I go to pick it up. Since I've already paid for it and have no money on me I've not ended up buying other junk. Upside I've saved lots of money.

  3. Dinner! Faced my first temptation of dinner out. I find it REALLY hard to make a healthy choice when I'm tempted with fried food. To try and help I looked up the menu online beforehand and chose in advance what I would order (when I wasn't hungry). Then it was one less temptation on the night because I'd already made my choice and didn't open the menu so I was less likely to fold and order a big steak and chips.

  4. Exercise. I have a gym membership but find a new excuse not to go everyday. To start with an achievable goal and try and form a habit I made my daily requirement a minimum 15 min workout. It's been really good! I downloaded a free ap nike training club and set up a beginners exercise program. An example it suggested a 45 min exercise day but I made the mistake of eating dinner first so felt ill jumping around so I switched it to a 30 min strength workout which was more like squats and lunges. The second day I was feeling sore and super tired so i chose a 20 min yoga class from the ap. I think it's going to be a lot better to do a bit of something than a lot of nothing.

I'm feeling confident I can keep this good momentum I hope the tips encourage other people too and keen to hear other ideas to manage food cravings, calories and lack of desire to exercise.
