I grew up in a family of soda drinkers. My mom is thin and healthy but still has her 3 cans of coke a day. This has always been normal to me. I’ve gone through phases with it. I gave it up for a while then came back to it and have probably had a Dr Pepper almost daily for 7 years now. I’ve lost 30 pounds as I’ve been doing CICO since last summer, which I’m really excited about. I managed to give up the soda finally for a brief period, then started a new job and started backsliding. When I drink it, I still count it and fit it in my calories, but I’d really like to give it up. I can’t believe it’s this hard.
Does anyone have any tips for how they managed to give it up? For me I associate with kind of an afternoon pick me up because when times were bad my mom would say “let’s go get a drink” and we’d go up to 711. I actually got my boyfriend hooked on it again (he had given it up before we started dating) so some days I’ll decide not to have one but he’ll get a big one and offer me some. I don’t know how to give it up! I don’t really think finding an alternative will help because I really just like water if I’m not drinking Dr Pepper. I’ve tried a bunch of alternatives like sparkling water and all that and don’t really care for it. I’m hoping I can find a way to give it up once and for all!!!
