I’ve been on a health journey since January 2017. I’ve gone from 210 lbs at 33% body fat and am currently sitting at 164 lbs at around 12% body fat. I started with Keto and then have transitioned to a CICO lifestyle, still staying relatively low-carb. I also usually don’t eat breakfast, so I guess you could call that intermittent fasting. I’ve exercised a few different ways, but am currently focused on lifting weights. How I feel about myself has evolved dramatically over this time and I’m just now starting to feel confident in how I look for the first time.
Yesterday I had a cross-country flight and was sitting in the row directly behind first class in the middle seat. The plane had this odd partition that was angled. There was more space in front of our legs than everyone else, but the angle made it difficult to navigate. There wasn’t much extra head space if that makes sense.
The gentleman next to me in the window seat just stood up and sidled past me and the lady in the aisle seat. He got into the aisle and immediately said, “I can’t believe I just did that without asking if y’all wanted to step out first! I guess I just mentally saw that we are all relatively thin and assumed it would work out. Sorry!”
I of course didn’t care, because as a part of a row of 3 people, I’m considered “relatively thin”! I know I’m looking and feeling a lot better, but it’s a complete shift to think of myself as thin. I’m excited with that feedback and hope my mental image begins to evolve too.
