Should I eat primarily protein in my calorie deficit to burn more fat and burn lose muscle?

This is my first reddit post ever so if I posted it in the wrong section of loseit or if I messed up I'm sorry. I didn't know how to post it to Daily Q&A.

Anyway, I have lost about 8lbs so far by just eating less to where I believe I am at a reasonably high calorie deficit. I know that when you burn weight like this most of it is fat and some of it is muscle. My question is if I decide to make a significant part of what I eat protein while I am still at a significant calorie deficit would that help much to burn more of just fat and not as much muscle? I am also going to start doing cardio for about an hour a day too if that affects it at all. I am a 24 year old guy just to let you know in case there is much difference in this between men and women or age.

I appreciate any feedback and if you know how to post to things like Daily Q&A could you let me know. Thank you.
