Random woman encouraging me

Ok I know this sounds like r/thathappened but it really did happen to me today. I am back doing CICO and working out (swimming and running) since 3 weeks now. I'm a 5'11', 26yo male and weigh 218 lbs. I'm down from 228 but obiously still pretty heavy. So today I was outside running because the weather was nice and I'm working on getting to 5 k (completed C25K last year but stopped running, so can only barely do 4 k right now). So mid run there was a woman just having a walk and I was coming up behind her. When I was around 50 m away she turned around, saw me and had a big smile. She stopped and took 2 steps to the side, just stood there with a big smile and looked at me. Naturally I thought she wanted to ask me for directions or something so I took out my earbuds and asked if she wanted something. She was smiling even bigger and told us: "Oh no, please go on! You are doing great!" and gave me both thumbs up.

It was a surreal experience. I still don't know how to feel about it. On the one hand it encouraged me to feel validated for the work I put in. On the other hand I kind of feel bad because I never thought of myself as looking very overweight and this showed me that people see me as overweight and acknowledge that me running is an odd thing.

I don't know. Do you have any experiences like this?
