TLDR: Was very fit, had thyroid issues, gained weight had stroke and now is back on track to being fit.
In my younger years I was a very active guy and I tried to stay in shape. I eventually developed thyroid issues and I had to get it removed. I ended up gaining a ton of weight and I became very depressed. Unbeknownst to me I developed diabetes and high blood pressure because I was skipping doctors visits due to the scale being so drastically heavier.
I had a stroke. I lost function in part of my body. With the help of my wife+loved ones and physical therapy I eventually gained most of my movement back. I still had residual nerve damage but I’m working through the pain and I’ve been eating better and getting back to the gym.
At my most fit I was 159lbs. I gained 100 lbs and weight 259lbs at my heaviest. I am now at 202lbs and I am feeling more confident and nimble again.
I just wanted to share and celebrate with you guys. All of your stories and pictures helped motivate me.
Thank you r/loseit
Edit: the last pic is a mirrored selfie, hence why tattoo is on the other side.
