Making changes after two years

I've always been relatively active, I loved playing football as a kid, but was always of the larger build and always overweight no matter how much exercise I did.

When I started university in Feb 2017, my mum of all people suggested I should start going to the gym to see if I'd enjoy it. After asking some people on the course whether they use the gym and whether they could show me some workouts I got stuck in, 3 times a week focusing mostly on building muscle as opposed to cardio.

A few weeks later I finally plucked up the courage to get on the scales and was mortified when it showed me at 260 lbs. So, I kept going to the gym, joining up at one closer to home which I could access much easier whenever I wanted and after a year or so of mostly weight based training, the scales were showing a much nicer 215 lbs (body fat at 26%) whenever I decided to jump on them.

I maintained around the same weight for about a year, with the same diet (nothing special, just eat less crap and smaller portions) until about 3 weeks ago. My girlfriend suggested doing nothing but cardio for 2 weeks to see what difference that made ( I really had neglected cardio and used any excuse to not do it, mostly because I knew how unfit I was in that aspect and because I thought it was boring). But hell, what harm could 2 weeks do.

I remember the first day, managing to run 1km in 6 minutes and being so out of breath that I had to sit down for 10 minutes before I could even consider doing something else. Two weeks later and 3km without a break is a breeze at that pace, my weight is down to 207lbs and body fat 22.3%. I am so close to being out of the overweight classification and being normal for the first time in my life, and I can't wait to get there!
