I gained two pounds, but the world didn’t end. I’m still here, and I meal prepped all day yesterday. I am halfway to goal and just felt tired. Tired of logging, tired of the meals I was choosing, and honestly just tired in general. I was too tired to even think about making it to the gym. Normally I’m so excited to get to my favorite classes.
So last week, I decided one night to make home made mac and cheese, my favorite meal and also ridiculously full of empty calories. But it FELT GOOD. And I went out to lunch with coworkers rather than eat my packed salad one day.
I went to the gym once vs my usual 3x per week.
The difference I’m just realizing as I type is that I portioned out my mac and cheese and actually made it last all week. I would have scarfed the whole thing in one sitting before. When I went to lunch, I picked the marinated chicken enchiladas with corn tortillas and scraped off the cheese when it arrived because I didn’t need it. I barely touched the rice and refried beans. I did a home workout (totally half assed) one night, and made sure to get as close to 8k steps a day as I could to make sure I wasn’t being sedentary.
I’m building healthy habits and they are becoming so much a part of my life that even “taking off” looks 1,000 times different than it did a year ago.
Even though I gained a little weight (I also had my period so I’m pretty sure it was water weight), I am building a completely sustainable lifestyle where I CAN eat my favorite comfort food and not feel like a piece of shit afterward. Sure it’s taking me way longer to get to my goal, but I’m legitimately enjoying the journey.
