Hi! I’m a lurker mostly and have been inspired by all of the posts here to start my journey to losing weight!
So a little info about me. 21 F, 5’2”. SW 230, CW 220. I used to eat upwards of 4000 calories, and cut down to 1800 calories. I lost about 15 pounds in three weeks just from cutting calories. Gained 5 back, but think that’s due to monthly processes.
I had been eating out for breakfast and dinner, and work downtown so lunch was not much better. I decided to simply start cutting calories while I adjusted my budget to allow me to buy fresh ingredients to start cooking healthy meals.
It felt like weight was just melting off, but I also noticed I was getting much weaker. Example, I couldn’t even hold a gallon of milk without my arms shaking. I’ve always been rather strong (had a muscular build hidden under inches of fat) and when I looked at my macros, I realized I’ve only been eating about 20-30 grams of protein a DAY. Sooo I upped my protein intake, and am feeling stronger, but I’m not losing inches anymore. The pants I finally started to fit into now are back to being way too tight. I also notice that I feel like I’m always hungry. I started meal prepping my lunches specifically since that’s where the biggest pit is for calories (and money) for me. My lunch consisted of 20 grams of chicken, a cup of brown rice, 2/3 cup of green beans and a cup of corn. I feel full immediately after eating but after an hour or two, I feel absurdly ravenous.
I’m more concerned about losing fat than weight, the scale has just been a small way for me to monitor that progress. I’ve joined a gym and started cardio to help the fat loss, but still totally unsure of what to do about my hunger issue.
Does anyone have suggestions for me as far as helping curb the hunger? I’ve tried eating more fiber, obviously more protein, and tried just eating a bit more at lunch to no avail. Should I try more of a lean bulk approach to this? Any and all constructive feedback is appreciated!
