Down 40 lbs while in my senior year of college! Here is my story.

This is my graph of my weight changes since September of 2018. While I have stalled a little bit here and there, I am still managing to lose weight even by going to school for 8 to 12 hours a day everyday of the week. I went from 245 to 206 in about 7 months, and I wanted to share my success with other college students can find success.

First things first, change your diet! I didn't really do much other than cut coffee and soda by 95%. I will still have a soda once in a blue moon (I.E. the last soda I had was back in February). I switched coffee and mochas out for green tea. Pro tip with green tea, add honey and cinnamon to it, it will taste better. I also cut out the bi weekly pasta/hamburger helper meals. Instead I cook my meat of choice (either chicken or ground turkey) and I will add white rice and a vegetable of my choice. Going the extra mile to add more basic veggies and fruit to my diet will help switch my taste for those foods. I also rarely eat sandwiches with bread anymore as well.

As far as how much I ate for meals, I haven't started measuring my food yet, but I try to keep to a two cup rule for each meal. For breakfast, I started eating nothing but granola bars for breakfast, then I slowly cut them out so now I only eat two meals a day. It really helps if you are counting calories.

Exercise. I make it a point to try to get 10,000 steps in a day. That is a bare minimum for me. It is real easy to get those in by taking extra study breaks or walking the long way in between classes. I also took up a 3 mile running route. That 3 mile route took me an hour to run back in September, now it takes me 30 minutes. As far as getting to the gym, some days I only have a half hour at the gym. Which means 15 minutes of running/elliptical and 15 minutes of weights using the machines. I started out by going 30 minutes of cardio, then I moved into half cardio half weights. I also bought fitness boxing for the switch on those nights I just didn't want to leave home due to weather or something. My suggestion is always leave 30 minutes in your day to move or do something if you can. 30 minutes is my minimum, an hour is usually perfect for me.

Overall, it's not the most successful story, but I feel like I have made progress and I wanted to share it with this subreddit. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or want help.
