Can anything be done about the mental effects?

I've gradually been trying to eat less and eat healthier when I do. Right now I'm aiming to eat somewhere around 1,800 calories a day in a 4-hour window. I've also cut out refined sugar almost entirely, I never eat fast food, and I drink only water and tea. I'm sure this is all well and good for losing weight, but...

I feel awful. I have no energy, I'm distracted almost all the time because of how hungry I am, and I feel nervous for no reason. I think slower, react slower, and am way more irritable than I should be. I also find that I'm saying wrong stuff more because I don't think before I speak, which is strange.

Is there anything I can do? I'd rather not have to choose between losing weight and feeling like garbage, or feeling normal but being fat.
