Yesterday during the Super Bowl I ate not one thing that was even remotely healthy, unless you count the jalapeños in the jalapeño poppers as a vegetable (I don’t).
I logged my food anyway and was actually surprised that I was not too far above my maintenance. I made myself step on the scale expecting a gain to find that I had actually lost a little.
Normally I would use a cheat day as an excuse not to log, assume I had screwed up my entire week by greatly overestimating the calories Of junk I ate. Assume I had gained weight and not stepped on the scale out of guilt and shame and started down the path into “fuck it” mode again.
The habits and routines we develop during this process are actually so helpful after a cheat day. They don’t make us feel worse, they can actually help to show us that one day of bad eating does little to nothing to harm us, and isn’t a reason to quit.
So to all my fellow Super Bowl cheaters, you are not alone.
