Sorry if this has been asked before but I did a few searches and nothing came up. I’m very curious to know how you all decided that enough was enough and you had to lose weight/get healthier - I read a lot on this sub about people (like myself) who have been overweight most of their adult lives but havent been able to do anything about it. What changed?
For me it’s twofold- I live in a top floor apartment without a lift, it’s not too high, there’s maybe 30 steps, and when I got to the top one day after coming home from work I was genuinely out of breath. I decided in that moment something had to give and the extra 100lbs I was carrying wasn't helping. I also have a job that requires me to be on my feet for long shifts moving quickly and crouching down a lot and I was beginning to get knee pain (at 24!). There is absolutely no way I’m giving up a career I love because my knees are trashed because I’m overweight!
So r/loseit when was the moment you realised you had to start a change in your life? Was it a slow realisation or did it hit you like a train? Are you doing it for you or for someone else?
