I had a bad habit of buying a "treat" on the way home from the gym.

I walk to my gym. It's just a couple blocks away. I would stop by the corner store and pick up a candy bar or something on my way home as a "treat" for going to the gym. "I just negated the calories, it's fine," I told myself.

It wasn't fine. First of all, I doubt that I honestly worked hard enough to burn off those 300 calories. Second, I was treating myself for doing something I should be doing for my general health. Third, it made be feel awful! I'd beat myself up over it within 10 minutes of finish the snack. I often finished it before I even got home.

So I stopped taking my wallet. My entry card for the gym is on my key chain. I just take my water and keys and I go. It's so simple, I know. But it was a big change for me! When I literally could not buy snacks anymore, I didn't buy them. Now I don't crave the post-workout snack AND I have kicked my workouts up a notch.

It's small, but I'm proud. No more celebratory Snickers.
