Don’t let the weekend win! Or how I gained 8 lbs in 2 days and still haven’t lost it all

As background I am 30s, 5’5” F. On Friday last week I weighed 162 (down from 267!). I avoided the scale Saturday and Sunday due to untracked, unplanned overindulgence including Chinese food, pizza, Super Bowl party, and an incident with shortbread cookies. I still attempted some good choices, including sticking to 0 calorie beverages all weekend and tbh i could’ve eaten more of everything. Nevertheless, on Monday I weighed 170.2.

Now obviously much of this had to be water weight because that’s an insane amount of weight to gain in 2 days but it’s not like it all melted off after a great Monday of eating. Or Tuesday, or Wednesday, or Thursday. It’s now Friday again and after a good week of healthy food at a modest deficit and gym, I’m still +2 lbs at 164. So the water weight explanation is only so much comfort, but isn’t putting me back to where I was last Friday.

The point of my post is that it is that it is going to likely be over a week of hard work to get back to where I was before my weekend, and it really was not worth it. I hope I can help someone (and myself) stay on the right track this weekend with my cautionary tale. So maybe next time pick between the Chinese, pizza, party snacks or cookies and not all of them, and don’t throw tracking out the window. Because it’s truly scary how much easier the weight comes on than it comes off.
