Sorry if people have posted this before. I’m 23, male, and about 5’11. Towards the end of the year I started noticing stretch marks on my stomach after about 6 months of eating whatever, whenever. I started counting calories (17-1800) and intermittent fasting (16:8) at the beginning of the year. I was probably 215-220 when I started but I’m not sure - which is kinda the point of this post.
I’ve lost weight before, and noticed that I’m very prone to discouragement when the scale fluctuates slightly or my weight plateaus. So this time I decided not to use a scale at all and to only measure progress based on how I feel and what I see in the mirror. I feel like this helps me worry less about minor day to day changes and focus more on the big picture/end goal. I’ve already noticed the belly getting flatter and I feel a little less winded going up and down the stairs.
Just wanted to ask out of curiosity, is there anyone else on this sub who has taken this approach? How did it work out for you? Do you find keeping a more diligent eye on your weight to be a motivator or a discouragement?
Let me know your thoughts!
