So... I bought a few of these 8 oz cans of 0 cal, 0 sat fat, 0 trans fat vegetable oil spray.
Except, well it's 0 everything "per serving", right? And a serving is a "0.2 second spray". And let's be honest. Most of us don't time the less-than-a-quarter-of-a-second sprays. I KNOW when I coat a baking sheet it's at least a few seconds.
And I've been using it a lot... for most things I've cooked, really.
Okay... still not a big deal, even if it's a couple calories, it's legit not worth worrying about.
Except this morning I went to use it, and the can was empty. The can I bought 4 days ago.
I was a lil surprised and looked at the can... 753 servings in 4 days.
And a serving is supposed to be 0 calories, but there's no such thing as a 0 calorie food, so I did some checking.
The can contains some pressurized air, stuff to keep it fresh, and just under 1 cup (its actually 214 grams) of Soybean oil.
A cup of soybean oil is 1,927 calories.
So... I've added 1,927 calories this week in ... cooking spray?
Obviously not everyone is using this much, or none of us would lose weight... and I'm definitely going to cut back.
But idk... I'm just trying to wrap my head around 0 calories taking up half to 2/3 of my weekly deficit.
And now I'm worried that I'mma start being all obsessive about foods we mostly don't even bother logging (and even if I did... MFP doesn't show any cal for this spray no matter how many servings i put!)
Like...
Idk how to deal with this info. I guess the moral of the story is moderation? or.. no such thing as a free lunch? idk.
Anyone have any insight/opinions/whatever?
