I had a "wake-up" call 6 months ago...and I had one today.

I'm so frustrated with myself. I'm 5'6" 225 lbs. This time last year I was probably 195lbs.

My husband and I took up hiking in the summer. I really struggled going uphill at a decent pace because this area around the front of my calves would tighten up. Once it loosened up I was fine, but the pain and frustration I felt was embarrassing. This was a wake up call. I don't want to be scared when my friends invite us out.

We continued hiking. I made it up some 1700 ft elevation "mountains", but I didn't lose weight. "Good" eating times (calorie counting/macro tracking) balanced out "bad" eating times so I basically have nothing to show for any efforts.

It's winter time now and we decide to try a boxing class. They have us jump rope for 10 minutes and the same pain comes in my calves. I am too heavy. I keep failing myself.

Will my whole life just be wake up calls? Why can't I keep myself "strict" for more a week or two? Why isn't normal eating just natural for me? I can tackle other challenges in my life - I have an advanced degree! I am a good engineer who follows through on projects!

I don't know where I am going with this. I just need to rant. Any similar stories?
