Eating right

So, not sure if this is the right place to put this, but I have a question. Does anyone have any suggestions for eating in a diet? I'm a 5'8'' 22 year old male whi weighs about 230 pounds and I'm going to start losing weight by eating healthy. I looked around for a bit and everything I read was a bit too... hard to read. Or at least I thought someone here could point me in the right direction or give some outright advice. My budget would probably be about 150-200 a month, but I never did concentrate on how much I spent a month on food, hence the overweightness. Also, quick question, do you guys think that starting something like boxing? There's a pretty big gym that I'm going to later today to sign up, and possibly start the same day! If they let me, as I'm pretty big. Anyway, any advice on how I can start eating anyone?
