Today may be day 1 of my husband's weightloss!!!

Today, my husband asked what weightloss app I use (MyFitnessPal, as this sub recommends) and then asked how many calories someone of his size should eat! Folks, I am amazed that I finally maybe got through to him.

How I did it:

[The bad]. When I started losing weight, I talked about it a lot. I commented on his weight directly and indirectly, tried to be encouraging, and tried to make weightloss an "us" thing instead of a "me" thing. This was 100% the WRONG thing to do. I was just being a bad wife.

[The good]. It took me awhile to accept the fact that my husband would need to make this decision for himself, and my attempts to influence him were rude/bitchy/mean/unhelpful. But I trusted the advice I read on this sub and stopped talking about my husband's weight, shape, or diet. I still talked about mine all the time because losing 30 lbs is one of the coolest things to happen to me ever (yay, CICO works!!!) I didn't try to change anything about him, and would constantly remind him that I love him and that he's hot/sexy/attractive. This went on for the better part of a year.

And then, we met up with a few of my family members who commented on how skinny I got (yay!) One of them wants to lose weight, so we were discussing CICO, MFP, TDEE, the difference between eating fewer calories vs eating healthy foods vs exercise, when my husband asked which app I use and what his TDEE would be! I tried not to get super excited but I am so happy that finally he expressed interest! I believe he did download the app and does intend to at least track what he eats, and my plan going forward it to hug him and tell him I love him and not ever bring up his weightloss or diet. If he brings it up first, I'll support him, but ultimately he has to do this on his own.

So here I am, expressing my excitement with you folks, as it might be overwhelming to him. But, gosh I am excited! I hope he succeeds at whatever goals he sets for himself!
