This morning, I caught the bus to work. I haven't done that in a long time because since June I've been riding my bike. In fact, the last time I took the bus was before I lost 70+ pounds. While losing the weight, I've been exercising like crazy. 2 times a week with a personal trainer (just stopped recently), I hit at least 4,800 steps most days, I've been lifting weights and doing C25K. I've never been fitter in my entire life.
I have 2 ways I can take the bus to work. I can take 1 bus that leaves me about a 12 minute walk from the office or transfer to another bus that basically drops me at the door. I used to never do the former because I'd get to work winded, sweaty and out of breath. Now, I could probably jog that distance and not even break a sweat but I couldn't just stay on the first bus today. I even had a whole conversation with myself about how not only would be OK but it would be great to get the steps in. In the end, I just couldn't bring myself to do it.
I need to work on that! Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things but I do wonder at what point I'll start truly accepting that I'm not who I was.
