Hello! I am looking for advice on being a supportive partner in my SO’s weight loss. A little bit of background, I have been actively losing weight for 4 months I am down 20 lbs and hoping to lose 5-10 more. My SO has gained about 15 lbs since we’ve met but it really isn’t very noticeable but he has been mentioning more often how he doesn’t like how he looks in pictures and needs to lose a few pounds. I remind him all the time how handsome I think he is and love him no matter what. Now he has specifically asked for my help getting healthier. I helped him determine his TDEE and based on that I helped him figure out what a normal day of eating at that level would be. I am trying to be as hands off as possible, I know this will only work if he’s committed and wants it. But also I have gained a lot of knowledge in weight loss and want to be a good resource.
Anyone have advice or tips from either the perspective of the “healthier” partner or the partner just beginning the journey? What helped what did not?
