I'm 29/m and have been overweight/obese all my life. I've tried to lose weight hundreds of times and did a pretty good job sometimes. I've never been able to stick with a diet/lifestyle change for more than 3-4 months. I have pretty severe depression that seems to be cyclical, once the depression comes the weight comes with it.
I've been trying my best to eat better and exercise for the past 4 months. September has been a plateau most of the month. Days are getting shorter, work is getting busier, and I can feel the depression coming back. In the past 4 months I've went from 300lbs to 228lbs. I see almost no change in my body except in my face. What I have noticed though are that my clothes that were once tight are now baggy.
I'm getting ready to go on a work related trip for the next week and shuffled through my old clothes to find something that fits nicely. I'm a packrat and have most of my clothes from my youth. I found a pair of 38 inch jeans and decided to see if they fit. Sure enough they fit perfectly, maybe a little tight. I noticed there was a piece of paper in the back pocket which I took out and found it was my grade 10 school schedule dated August 2004. I've been losing motivation through September, but when I read that paper I realised how far I've come. I feel optimist and rejuvenated like I did at the beginning of my weight lose journey. I don't have anyone to share this with and I thought the community may enjoy this story.
