Hi, all! I'm not new to weight loss so I'm pretty good at it at this point in my life. Losing weight is usually easy for me, it's the keeping it off that I've struggled with. I started up again about 2.5 weeks ago and am disappointed to see that the scale is stuck between 221 and 223.
Here's my stats: 5'4", female, 32 years old, CW 221-223, GW idk maybe 160? Highest ever weight was 255 about 8 years ago.
TDEE is about 2030 (which feels accurate--I've logged calories in MyFitnessPal during times when I wasn't actively trying to lose weight and I do seem to maintain at about 2000 calories) and BMR is about 1690. MFP and other websites tell me to eat about 1650 calories a day to lose a pound a week.
In the past I've been able to successfully lose weight eating 1700-1800 calories but this time I set my goal at 1630 and I've been at or under that number most days. I weigh everything on a food scale and I log everything I ingest. My macros are set to 45% carbs, 30% fat, and 25% protein. I've found that I feel full with these macros. I've been eating healthier--more veggies, fruits, fish, and nuts..
There a few days early on when I went over my cals, but never more than my TDEE. I was hungry because in addition to changing my diet I began exercising and that always makes me feel super hungry at first. I do IF so I eat between noon and 8pm every day, which is kind of my natural eating schedule anyway.
I go to the gym 5-6 days a week and do 35-50 minutes of light to moderate cardio, more recently doing a kind of HIIT mixed with C25K (I try to get my heart rate up to my max recommended rate of 170 but no higher than that. Typically my heart rate varies from about 145-170 during a workout session). I've done some light strength training but I'm still kind of intimidated by it so I feel more comfortable doing cardio.
I haven't been eating my exercise calories. I tend to fall between 1300-1700 calories most days. I drink 12-16 cups of water a day, with a typical goal of a gallon. I generally only walk about 4,000-6,000 steps a day--I'm a university instructor and I have to walk across campus to get to my different classes, but when I'm not teaching or at the gym, I'm pretty sedentary. I get good sleep every night, generally 8-9 hours and I feel rested.
I feel great and have no plans to stop exercising or eating better but it is kind of disheartening that my scale isn't moving. I know it's only been a few weeks but in the past I've seen some kind of change by now. As far as I know, my measurements are the same. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?
