Day 1: New mom trying to set a healthy example for my daughter

Hello, I've been lurking on loseit for some time. I'm 30 years old, 5'10 at 220 pounds postpartum, and a brand new mom to a 3 week old baby girl.

Getting pregnant was nightmarishly hard; I had multiple miscarriages with no medical reasons behind the losses. I lost 15 pounds in the the hope of a healthy pregnancy. I was down to 200 pounds before my successful pregnancy. I spent most of my pregnancy hating that I was overweight and gaining even more. Frankly, I spent most of my pregnancy terrified and worried about everything, but it was a picture-perfect pregnancy.

I gained 55 pounds during the pregnancy. I tried eating healthy and looking out for overeating, but obviously I wasn't super successful. My daughter is huge- 9 pounds and 22inches long. I dropped a decent amount of weight immediately after birth, so there is that. It's in the past now and I need to be a healthy role model for my daughter. I don't want to be a mom that constantly 'diets' and worries about my figure. I think that would teach my daughter to be self conscious and crash diet too.

Today is my Day 1. Because I'm exclusively breastfeeding, I've set my calorie intake to 1800 a day. I know breastfeeding burns calories, so I have that to boost my weightloss. However, I'm stuck inside and told to 'take it easy' until I'm checked by my OB at the beginning of October. I return to work shortly afterwards.

My first goal is 190 pounds, just under my pre-pregnancy weight. My second goal is 170.

What diet and exercise advice do you have for a recovering new mom? I made a promise to myself and my daughter that I would be a healthy, fit mom.
