Thin/Small people that "can eat anything and remain thin". Do they really exist?

Have you actually studied them or lived with them? Or do you think they can eat whatever because they happen to always eat poorly infront of you?

I do think some people have faster metabolisms than others, but not by much from what I have observed. I'll share a few examples and hope you can also share some of your own for the sake of discussion and contemplation.

My mom and my mother in law are the same height and age 5'2 and 53 years old. My mom has had trouble with her weight since she gave birth to me in the late 80's. My MIL is very slim. She doesn't snack and only eats a couple of times per day. I have never seen her sit for a long period of time. She's always looking for ways to help me out around the house when she stays with us. She goes out for walks and swims. She sips on tea all day and she does frequent restaurants, but at home she eats basic things like beans on toast.

My mom goes to the gym a few times per week to remain active and has a standing job. She is a snacker and very much into YOLO when it comes to eating. She doesn't gorge, but she doesn't pass up foods she likes and she frequents restaurants. She's not very sedentary and is always on the go. So I'd say both MIL and my mom move about the same. The difference is in their eating habits. My mom tends to gravitate towards the fattier foods and eats often, my MIL eats only a couple of times per day and I'd say medium portions.

Then I have 2 brothers. One is obese 5'8 and 300Lbs or more. One is 5'11 and about 150. The obese one loves junk food and eats zero veggies, lots of meat and take out. He is a snacker and always looking for something to munch on. He's a truck driver so not very active and before that he was a gamer, so again not very active. The slim one also doesn't eat anything healthy, but he doesn't snack at all. He eats 1 or 2 meals a day and that's it. Food has never really been his thing. He'll have a burger, or a few chicken nuggets or a couple of slices of pizza. He works at a restaurant and walks everywhere (doesn't drive). Growing up, he ate like once a day and was super skinny.

I could go on, I have so many examples within my own family. All the thin people that I have observed simply don't eat as much. Sure, they eat crap and if you ate out with them once or twice you'd think they were just lucky to be thin, but they don't gorge nor do they snack. I personally am a grazer and if I don't force myself to be active, I can sit all.day.long. I've struggled with my weight my entire life.

So no, I don't think "naturally thin" people exist when it comes to CICO. Perhaps better habits are instilled in them as children for whatever reason, but physically, they work the same as everyone else.

Just my thoughts. This of course excludes true medical conditions etc.
