[NSV] I worked out for 30 minutes despite obstacles and feel good about it.

Here's the story: I've been going to a Weightloss and Wellness Clinic for about a year now and while my behaviors and habits reflect a healthier lifestyle I am still at the same weight I was last year. Last week I finally bit the bullet and met with the physical therapist at the clinic who examined me and prescribed 30 minutes of exercise 5 days a week in my target heart rate zone. Armed with knowledge, I decided to take it seriously and walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes while reading a book, which is actually something I enjoy because I don't have to watch where I'm going, I can control the speed, and I can create an incline, all while reading.

I work at a college so at lunchtime I decided to walk over to the fitness center and utilize the cardio room. I made sure to pack my workout clothes and deodorant and grab two bottles of water only to find that the cardio room was locked. I called the athletic director, the basketball coach, and three people from facilities and no one answered because they were all at lunch. It was at this moment that I was going to throw in the towel and "try tomorrow" when I decided to just walk in the gymnasium.

I didn't like it at first because there were other people in there playing basketball and I didn't want their judgment, but I dug in and began walking my laps. After about 10 laps I began to alternate jogging a lap and walking a lap and after 16 laps total I cooled down, stretched, and savored my victory.

Though I'm not there yet I'm excited to work out and pursue a life of healthy living. Just remember: it doesn't matter how slow you go - you're still lapping the people on the couch.

TL;DR - Wanted to walk on the treadmill but the cardio room was locked. I walked/jogged in the gymnasium instead of putting off until tomorrow.
