Half way to my target! 11 kilos (25 lbs) since Christmas

I have cut out sugar, including hidden sugar in ingredients lists, and drastically reduced refined carbs (bread, pasta, rice etc). It was difficult at first because I was consuming the standard 2000 calories per day for men. But then I realised that as a sedentary 70 year old I should be on 1600, more difficult to do, but much more productive.

My breakfast is usually granola with whole milk, chopped fruit and yogurt

My lunch today was a big mixed salad with hard-boiled eggs and garlic mayo

I eat very little in the evenings, maybe some olives and/or radishes

My sleep has improved (I have sleep apnoea) and I'm not pre-diabetic any more. My doctor has prescribed a folic acid supplement

I still have 11 kilos to go - not as much as many of you heroes out there - but I'm still proud and hopeful.

Thanks for all your encouraging stories, you Redditors, and if you're struggling, don't give up!
