Why are we so hard on ourselves?

After about 2 months of relapsing on my eating goals and 3 weeks away from the gym I started to get REALLY down on myself this week, even though I haven't gained in those 2 months, in fact I've lost 2lbs! But I know that I'm not doing all that I could be doing and I'm so sick of being fat. Especially since summer has officially begun and we're having 35 degree (C) days and I'm still wearing long black pants and long black shirts and catching glimpses of myself in shop windows as I bike by and cringing. Just haaattting on myself.

So I made some new goals today, getting back into MFP and headed to the gym this afternoon. As I was writing down goal weight and current weight in my spreadsheet (I'm horny for excel when it comes to weight loss tracking) I wrote down my starting weight and realized I am currently more than halfway to my original goal weight. I've lost 40 and have 30 left to go. I should be proud!!! Why have I been kicking myself? I know for a fact (cause I was down to that weight a few years ago, yes this is my second attempt) I'm only about 10lbs away from that sweet spot where people start to notice and comment on it and you feel amazing and powerful. But I shouldn't need other people to tell me what I've accomplished is impressive. I know it is! I need to let myself be proud.

I see people getting lower and lower on the scale and still feeling bad about themselves because they're waiting to let themselves feel happy when they reach their goal. We need to enjoy the journey! We need to feel more positive of our accomplishments and realize that this is no small feat!

So...GREAT WORK EVERYONE! YOU'RE STRONG AND BEAUTIFUL AND INSPIRATIONAL AND EVERYONE SHOULD LOOK IN THE MIRROR TODAY AND SAY GOOD JOB YOU SEXY BITCH!
