First of all let me say that I’m still only halfway through and still need to lose another 35 kilo’s to reach my goal. I did the first 70lbs in 8 months and quit my diet all together around 7 months ago. I had done diets before and always ballooned back to my old self or even fatter. Diets like Cambridge or other crash diets had helped me lose a lot of weight but didn’t stop it all from coming back.
So the last month has been a breath of fresh air for me. I always felt a loser, a lazy person who never could go on long enough to achieve his goals. Only thing I had going for me was a good job, but no social life or anything to enjoy the money on. So I did some tests with the doctor about my anxieties (people with GAD will know how binging is something that happens a lot) and was told I have ADHD. I’m on the medication for 3 weeks now and it’s like day and night, I cook, clean, do my own shopping, wash my own cloths and even have the will and desire to go back on my diet.
So two weeks ago when I started I was afraid to go on the scale, how much had I gained in the last 7 months? The last time I had weight myself I was at 118 kilo’s. My eyes almost popped out when I got on the scale and it said 120.
A lot of people will think how would you not know that? It’s because I don’t like to use a mirror and was still using the cloths from my 145 kilo days. And maybe that’s the saddest part of it all, you hate how you look so much you don’t even look at yourself anymore.
Last week I got myself all new cloths, got a haircut and even bought a new tooth brush and I feel like a new person. Got a new mirror and started my diet again to reach the end goal.
I would also want to say to the people who think they have ADHD/ADD to at least try medication. I was really hesitant and afraid at first, but it helped me to get off my ass, and I can stop taking them whenever I want. Don’t let people tell you it’s not real and say things like “everyone has that, you just need to stop being lazy”. They don’t understand that it’s like calling a disabled man lazy and asking him to run the 100m or calling a blind man stupid because he is not trying hard enough to see.
I hope to post another story in like 6 months with pics to maybe help inspire someone. Only thing I can say is to try and lose the weight slow and the right way, it helped me keep it off, even when I was not trying.
