What I Learned From Losing 60 Pounds And Controlling My Binge Habits

I struggled with binge eating for about 6 or 7 years. It really killed me because I did not want to affect me physically but I was always out of breathe. I was 90 pounds overweight and still couldn't stop. I had tried every type of diet out there and I failed.

The reason I thought I failed? I wasn't good enough. The actual reason I failed? It was a shitty diet that was too complicated to follow and too restrictive. I began to yoyo and spiral down until I was eating fast food every day multiple times a day, ate in my car so my roommate wouldn't see me, hide wrappers so people didn't know how much I was spending etc.

Finally I decided to lose weight once and for all. I started by walking because quite frankly I couldn't do any more than that. I walked for 30 minutes for almost a month and I even felt like quitting because I realized I skipped a few days. Next I decided I had to start watching what I was eating but in the past it had always been such a problem with binging. So I took it one step deeper.

Why was I eating? Just like alcohol or drugs, food was like an addiction for me. I wrote down methodically why I ate, how I felt when I was eating, how I felt after, what it was doing for my body, what were my triggers to eat, did specific foods always make it to the front, what did I bring home that would be the first thing gone in a binge session? The more I wrote down the more I came to terms with it.

I started to learn how to be less impulsive and think about what I was doing before I did it which made bingeing a lot less harmful for me. Of course it was difficult and I still struggled for another year but definitely not as much and not as badly. So I did that for about a year and a half and I slowly took the weight off. I hope this helped for anyone in the same boat. Will post more soon!
