I'm overweight. Obese, even, though I seem to fill out pretty evenly. My whole life, all I've done was eat. I've gained so much weight over the years. Stretch marks line my body. I practically have full breasts that could fit a bra, despite being a man. I kept telling myself that I should just enjoy food. I wasn't going to live forever, and I didn't plan on living for long.
This weekend has been an eye opener for me. I'm learning and coming to accept things about myself and my personality that I never really considered before and, with that, came this need--this urge--for a new life.
So, 10 minutes ago, I bought a weight scale. It will be here by tomorrow.
Tomorrow will be the first of many days that I attempt to climb this mountain. I know it's going to be difficult and, to be honest, I'm afraid that I'll give up, but I reached out and asked people what diets, exercises, and subreddits would be useful in order to help me lose weight--first, on a budget, then maybe even further, and someone pointed me here.
I read over a few posts and I'm honestly so overwhelmed with emotion at how determined everyone is here at being fit and healthy and feeling good about themselves, both physically and mentally, and that's something I want for myself. After fighting depression for so long and being stuck inside my own head, believing that I'd be nothing more than a failure, I'm finally willing to take those first steps not only here, but elsewhere.
So, here's to the first of (hopefully) many posts and many days. Cheers, everyone. I'm ready to join the family.
