I have a suspected hormonal issue which affects my body’s regulation of insulin. Not necessarily diabetes ( I am a normal weight for my height- higher end of normal) and don’t have any diabetes symptoms, but it is most likely something along the lines of pcos or estrogen dominance. I am being seen by a doctor for this but it will take some time to figure it out.
I am very concerned because I am so close to being overweight and I am unhealthy. I had amazing success on Keto. I even loved it for the month I did it. I lost 10 pounds quickly and felt great. I was never hungry. I had energy. No Keto flu either. Then I started getting sick of eating egg bites for breakfast, salad with almost no veggies for lunch, and a hunk of meat and broccoli smothered in butter for dinner EVERY NIGHT.
I started craving Mac and cheese, bread, pizzas etc until I couldn’t control it and I began eating carbs again. Much more than I would typically because I guess I missed them more than I knew. I have stabilized slightly after a few days of tons of carbs and am eating carbs but in regular amounts (and no refined carbs only complex ones!).
I am no longer losing. In fact I am up 5 pounds of what is most likely water. I am incredibly disheartened. This happens EVERY time I eat even so much as a sandwich or a bowl of pasta. Not only will the fat or water weight jump up insanely high in 24 hours but it will stay way up there for months (for forever if I keep eating carbs). No amount of exercise or calorie deficit really seems to help. When I eat carbs when I weighed every gram of food and ate 1200 a day (I was starving!) I lost maybe 2 pounds a month. When I don’t eat carbs I lose 8-12 a month. Every single time.
Am I doomed to either eat the same 5 foods and get so bored forever, or will I be unhappy with my health forever? I can’t stay this big. BMI might say I’m healthy but I’m struggling and I have a very high body fat % for my BMI. Please does anyone know anything about this? What can I do? Other than wait for a doctor to find a solution.
