I need to lose 60 pounds to be in the normal weight range for my BMI. I gained the weight in the first place because I have an overactive nervous system and sensitive emotional trigger that I let control my life for way too long and I became an emotional eater. Overeating is my go to solution for stresses big and small, and constantly having to manually override that response is exhausting. I have been trying to lose weight for as long as I can remember, but nothing I do is even good enough. I feel totally defeated - can anyone offer me some encouragement/ mindset shift? I’ve considered trying to find a therapist to help me with this (I’m already in therapy but it’s not the goal centric type of coaching I think I’d need for this).
For some background: I’m 225 lbs at 5’8” and I’m a woman. I’m not a junk food eater (like, fast food/ soda etc) as such - more in the overeating rich foods/ pastries/ comfort foods camp. I “eat clean” except for when I’m emotionally eating and even then it’s usually cleanish, but just too much in quantities and not in response to true hunger. My life is OK, I do sit at a desk for work, I’m a software engineer for my day job. I do yoga, reformer Pilates, and I just got an orange theory membership. In the past I’ve worked with a personal trainer. A few years ago I lost 30 pounds through paleo diet but gained it pack during a career transition.
Halp! Kind people of lose it - what do I need to hear and really listen to in order to be successful.
