So, on Saturday I was at the gym doing my usual 15 minute treadmill workout and I actually ended up running the last 5 minutes on a steep gradient (13-15%) because I wasn't getting much from the usual fast walk on gradient. I was really proud of myself, especially as I haven't done running on treadmill for over a year and have never been able to run on any sort of gradient. I posted my achievement on Facebook and my cousin replied saying I should do parkrun, and saying "Trust me. Treadmill doesn't get you anywhere". Now, I get treadmill running is easier (at least for me) than outdoor running, but I enjoy the treadmill and so far, I don't like running outdoors. I do plan on doing parkrun but this comment from my cousin wound me up. Has anyone else had people say things like this, or basically be judgemental of types of exercise? I just don't get why people have to devalue other people's achievements!
