What do you do with leftover calories?

So I’ve just finished eating dinner and logged my calorie intake for the day. I give myself 1400 calories each day and the vast majority of the time I eat within 100 cals either side of this and feel very satisfied with the amount I eat so feel I’ve got a good balance.

Today I had a really rushed lunch because I was so busy at work so just had a banana and a 23g packet of sweet chilli mini rice cakes. Dinner was much better - a skinless chicken breast with a heap of mediterranean vegetables and a pesto sauce.

My calorie intake for today totals 714, and now I am a little lost. On one hand, the less calories I consume, the quicker I’ll lose weight. But on the other hand, I’m worried I’ve not had enough food/balanced my nutrition (according to My Fitness Pal, I’ve hit double my protein goal, but not my fat or carb goals).

In this case, would you eat more or leave it there? Do I base it on whether I feel hungry or not later? Is it fine if this happens every now and again if 99% of the time I consume my 1400 calorie goal?

Any advice/opinions would be appreciated!
