Recently I've been struggling to continue losing. This comes from a mixture of being less unhappy about my body, fun events increasing as we head into summer, and stress at work leading to stress eating. But I've been thinking a lot about the struggle, and I think grappling with this stuff is where the real progress happens. It's not hard for me to focus in for 1-2 months and lose weight. What is hard is re-training myself to manage losing weight while still having a full social life or dealing with stress.
I tend to think that wherever you are in your weightloss journey is right where you need to be. If I'm not losing weight right now it means that I need to learn a few more techniques to stop stress eating or work on my self-control muscle. I could buckle down and say no to social events for a few weeks and lose the next 5 lbs, but that's not training my body and mind to maintain in the "real world". I need to struggle and make breakthroughs while still living my life if I want any chance at maintaining my losses.
If anyone else is out there struggling, I want you to know that I'm in it with you and that the struggle is where real change happens. The only way we fail is if we stop trying!
