In August of 2018, my doctor basically gave me the news that I was obese. I am 196cm tall however I was 302lbs. My family has a history of heart disease and so if I didn't want to be dead by age 30, I needed to pick up the slack.
At first it was undeniably hard, I yoyoed a lot back and forth between losing and gaining weight, and I realized that I was not making any progress, so I used going away to university to reinvent myself.
I didn't really go to the gym much honestly, it wasn't really for me, and I only go if I didn't have anything else I could do. So some may be wondering, how did I lose so much weight?
Short answer: Exercise through fun channels and healthier eating choices
Long answer: I knew imo that the gym suuuuucked. It was so boring and annoying. I didn't like going because it wasn't fun. So I just got my exercise through other channels. I joined the soccer club, and played once a week. I played table tennis (not just casual ping pong but real, legit, table tennis) once a week with another friend, and I walked accross town instead of driving to go classes. I also walked around campus a lot.
Finally I also made the varsity curling team, and learning to curl was not only fun but a great source of exercise.
I am now a size 38 pants (ex size 44)
XL shirt (ex 2XL or 3XL)
But yeah, I don't feel I look any different or feel different, but I know I did it.
I'm looking to shave another 20 off, then begin muscle mass gain.
I know I am but a lurker on this sub, but the motivational posts really got me through shit times.
All I gotta say is, I guess I can look forward to my 30s.
