This is a weekly post for the runners of LoseIt. All levels of runners are welcome. You can be just thinking of running, doing C25K, or have thousands of miles of experience. Feel free to post and share here!
This post was started over two years ago by /u/ificandoit. He went off to be a busy new papa and I took over.
This post is mostly about checking in and sharing and asking questions of the runners here. We have a great group who share on and view this post each week.
In order to make it past the automod I ramble on about some topic. This week... running while traveling/on holiday.
The Travelling Runner
I like to get in a few runs in cool places. Here's some tips I've developed.
Wear your running shoes
If you are travelling and can get by with wearing just your running shoes, do it. I usually can do this. When I travel for business, I will pack my dress shoes but wear my runners/trainers the rest of the time. Makes it easier.
Pack running gear as sleep/casual wear
Go ahead and pack running gear as replacement for what you can. I usually pack stuff for each day. If I don't use it for running or working out, I can use it for bed or just as more comfortable stuff for lounging around in. Often it inspires me to run/workout more.
Mix up your routine
Vacations and travel are great time to do something different. Long run on a weekday? Go for it. There's a cool workout place near where you are -- try it out.
Finding Running Spots
To find running routes, I look at Strava heatmap or segments near where I am. Often, there's clear paths routes evident from these two sources.
I generally look also at local parks in the area. Often they have paths and great maps available.
Weekly Check-in
How did your week go? Get in a good training week? Run a new distance PR? Run a race? Planning to run a race? Let us know how you are doing!
