Around this time, 3 years ago, I was close to being morbidly obese weighting 293lbs(133kg), whilst being 15 years old and 5' 8"(174cm) and very unhappy with my life. I was always a little chubby boy, but never overwhelmingly obese. When I was 13 I weighted 182lbs(83kg) and decided It was enough. I joined a fat loss camp for 3 weeks and got down to 171lbs(78kg). It was all going well and then my bipolar symptoms started revealing themselves, causing me to jump to 200lbs(90kg) in a matter of 6 weeks. From then on, It was only getting worse and worse. I became an emotional eater and gained constant weight over time. I was constantly getting picked on and It resulted in eating more and more. I've tried various diets but It only worked for a short period of time. Fast forward to March 2016, I remember looking at my mirror reflection and feeling pure disgust. I consulted with my mother and paid nutritionist a visit. I started implementing some activities such as bicycling and walking to school instead of taking a bus. In a matter of a month, I lost 22lbs(10kg). I was very happy with my progress, and I received a lot of positive feedback from the background. People say things like this motivate you to keep pushing, but after seeing a reflection in the mirror, I was, once again, disgusted with myself and felt like I haven't accomplished anything. This time, I did not gain the weight but kept losing it, just very, very slowly. Summer came, and I lost 15lbs(7kg). For 2 years I was stuck at ~253lbs(115kg), constantly jumping up and down. Fast forward to April 2018, I've decided to join a local fat loss challenge. I was introduced to the ketogenic diet there, and believe me It was one of the hardest diets to begin with. I had a personal trainer (I've worked out 3+ days a week) and was on a strict keto diet. After 2 weeks I got adapted and started seeing some pretty decent results. Since I became aware how my motivation works ( 1 1/2 months maximum), I've decided to give my 200% and I've lost 22lbs(10kg) in 6 weeks. Then my motivation started falling off but I still pushed myself and in 3 months I have went from 253lbs(115kg) to 216(98kg). I did not win the challenge, but I've made a significant result. Months passed and I've got to 209lbs(95kg)... I was constantly trying to get back on track, but only for a short term. I got back on track in February this year and have lost additional 15lbs(7kg) in 6 weeks, dropping to 194lbs(88kg), but had to stop due to a school trip that lasted 7 days. I gained 2lbs, making it 196lbs, and from that point until now I have lost 6lbs. I am currently at 190lbs(86kg), 5'10"(188cm), close to my goal of 175lbs(79kg). It is a journey with many ups and downs, and I learned that the most important thing is to never give up, no matter how bad it is, because you can't change what happened yesterday, or for the past 10 years of your life. Also, it may be cliche, but It doesn't matter how hard you workout, if your nutrition isn't on point. Honestly you can succeed without rigorous workout plan if you stick to an intelligent meal plan with some minor activity such as walking. For me, ketogenic diet worked the best, alongside some training (gym mainly - heavy lifting along 1 cardio day). If you should have any questions regarding my or even your journey, I'd be more than happy to answer them. Wish you the best in your journey. Also the tip that I found very useful was never to delay the fat loss, If you make a decision to do so, it should be instant regardless of what you ate that day, not next week, tomorrow, in a few hours...
It honestly was the best decision of a lifetime with countless benefits, both mental and physical, I've gained a lot of confidence, I've developed something I never had; self-respect. The feeling of not having to go to a plus size store to purchase clothes, instead being able to choose clothes that look good on me, acceptance from the society (which let's not lie ourselves is of huge importance as we're social beings), stamina, energy levels... It's worth it, and If you don't believe me, try it yourself, you'd be surprised at how powerful your mind is.
Unfortunately I avoided taking photos when I was at 133kg, but I have a comparison from 123kg to now (86kg) - Here
