Putting in significant effort and ruining it all about 2 days a week

Hi everyone. I’m on a journey to make sustainable life-long changes to eat in moderation and to be healthier overall. This includes fitness goals with running and strength, as well as wanting to lose about 15lb.

So far it’s going great. I haven’t had a legitimate binge in a couple of months. I decided to meal prep and be very diligent with my nutrition during the week unless I really crave something or have an opportunity I don’t wanna pass (as long as I hit my calories). And then on the weekends I’m more flexible overall.

However, I’ve found that if I don’t track for a day or if I just go with the flow on the weekends, I end up destroying my progress for the week. As a result, I’ve maintained my weight for the last few weeks after initially losing a few lb.

This is a huge bummer because of all the effort I put into planning my meals and how much better my relationship with food is right now. I’m passing on sweets at work. I’m fitting something in if I want to have it or saving it for the next day if I can wait. I’m happy to eat my meal prep. But none of this seems to matter if I’m being too loose on the weekend.

I need to set a limit like only do maintenance calories on days that I want to eat more and maybe lower my calories a little more during the week to account for it but it’s just a bummer that it feels like I’m doing so much already and I need to do more. Like how I’m eating now will need to be how I eat for the rest of my life to maintain my weight apparently, it’s not enough to lose with.

I guess I can think about it as making incremental changes. I’ve gotten this far, just gotta keep trucking and improving.
