Motivation is sugar. Discipline is protein.

I see a lot of people posting on this sub about lacking motivation. I’ve had that same mindset before and I feel like approaching a lifestyle change and thinking you need constant motivation is a surefire way to fail. Motivation is a great tool to get started but it can only carry you so far. For me at least, I wasn’t able to make any substantive lasting changes until I focused on improving my discipline. For me, eating right and working out was easy when everything else in my life was going well. The trouble is there is some chaos no matter what and I was using those things (stress at work, financial concerns, anxiety...) as excuses. I had to learn to stay focused on my goals in spite of those things. Not use them as a reason to backslide.

Take this with a grain of salt. Like everything on this sub different things work for different people. This helped me.
