You might not know where you'll end up at the end of this path, but know that if you keep putting one foot in front of the other, you will get there. Sometimes you'll need to take a break and camp out for the day, and that's okay. Just wake up tomorrow, pack up the tent and keep walking.
Some days you'll come to a point along your journey where you're just fucking tired and you just want to take some time from the uphill march; maybe enjoy yourself by taking a swim in the lake that you found a mile backwards. That's okay too. Along this journey, it's important to revitalize the mind and spirit.
This is what overcoming disordered eating should look like.
I've struggled my entire life with binging-> hating myself afterwards-> inflamed my self-doubt-> punishing myself. From there I would either restart this cycle or just quit altogether.
But now, when I step back and remember that IT. IS. OKAY. to take a break or enjoy a holiday meal or some birthday cake with the family, I see it as im taking a swim in the lake that day. I'll continue the hike tomorrow. Or maybe I won't count calories that day, but I eat only unprocessed, whole foods, and I see that as me camping out for the night and continuing on the next morning.
It is one hell of a hike. The fear of the unknown can be scary. But this will be worthwhile. Remember to keep going the next day. Our bodies are all we truly own. Let's nourish not only our bodies, but our minds as well.
Combat the negative self talk with understanding, and then keep matching on down the road. You are worth it.
